Concerned about EV levy proposal

I REFER to the report “Govt mulls levy on EV sales to fund public charging network” (The Star, Aug 4), which quoted Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani as saying the government was considering imposing a levy on every electric vehicle (EV) sold to establish a fund for expanding the public EV charging network nationwide.

The concern behind the proposal is legitimate: a nationwide charging network will not build itself, and residents of apartments and People’s Housing Projects (PPR) in particular cannot rely on home chargers.
