Shaping policy on refugee management

I WELCOME the government’s proposal to engage academics, civil society representatives, policy experts and other stakeholders in discussions on the issue of refugee management in Malaysia, “Govt welcomes proposals on refugee management, says Saifuddin Nasution” (The Star, June 15).

The presence of refugees here is a complex and sensitive issue that has implications on national security, public order, social cohesion, public health, employment and the overall well-being of Malaysians.
