Implement standards to improve access to digital space

MALAYSIA must move from recognising disability rights to enforcing accessibility, especially in public services and the digital space.

Start with the numbers. As of Dec 31, 2024, the Department of Social Welfare had 751,421 active registered persons with disabilities (PWD) nationwide. The largest categories comprised persons with learning disabilities (294,257) and physical disabilities (251,908), followed by mental (59,104), visual (63,118), hearing (47,312), speech (3,932) and multiple disabilities (31,790).
