Remarks by PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang which link the issue of corruption with race and religion are shocking. They warrant a rebuke and must be withdrawn. It cannot be emphasised enough that no reasonable person would ever link the issue of graft with race and religion.

Such misinformation is appalling, more so from a seasoned political leader.

Corruption has nothing to do with race or religion. This is an obvious fact and basic common sense.

Hadi Awang even failed to corroborate his accusations with facts or analysis, empirical evidence or scientific grounds. This indicates that his allegations are utter nonsense.

These types of baseless slander against non-bumiputras and non-Muslims are enough to stir up hatred, distrust and misunderstandings against non-bumiputras and non-Muslims, in addition to creating ethnic and religious antagonisms. They should stop immediately.
