Unprecedented proposal of different logo betrays nation

PERSATUAN Patriot Kebangsaan (Patriot) takes a very serious view of the proposal that the four states under Opposition bloc Perikatan Nasional – Kedah, Kelantan, Perlis and Terengganu – to use a different logo from that of the Federal Government to mark Malaysia’s National Day on Aug 31 (“Perikatan Youth unveils its own National Day logo”, The Star, Aug 19; online at bit.ly/star_logo).

We see the proposal by Perikatan Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari on the use of different themes and logos for the National Day celebration in the four Perikatan-ruled states as a betrayal of the principles of federalism practised in this country.
