ACTRESS Datin Seri Umie Aida (pic) was RM1,000 poorer because of an apple, Kosmo! reported.
She was at the Malaysia Airlines airport lounge on Tuesday, waiting to board a flight to New Zealand where she was scheduled to work on a drama series.
“I took an apple to eat during the flight, but later I got too tired and dozed off, forgetting about the apple.
“When I arrived in New Zealand, the (security) staff scanned my bag and found the apple. I was fined NZ$400 (RM1,020),” she said in a video post on Instagram.
According to the New Zealand Customs service, items such as fruits, meat, dairy products and plants must be declared on arrival.
Umie, 51, however, took the incident in her stride.
“This is fate,” she said.
Other netizens also shared their experience.
“Last month, someone from my group was fined NZ$400 after he forgot that he had a hard-boiled egg with him,” someone wrote.
