NEW YORK, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended mixed on Thursday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 646.26 points, or 1.34 percent, to 48,704.01. The S&P 500 added 14.32 points, or 0.21 percent, to 6,901. The Nasdaq Composite Index shed 60.3 points, or 0.25 percent, to 23,593.86.
Eight of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in green. Materials and financials led the gainers by going up 2.23 percent and 1.84 percent, respectively. communication services and technology led the laggards by dropping 1.01 percent and 0.55 percent, respectively.
