Pilot killed in agricultural helicopter crash in Russia


MOSCOW, June 24 (Xinhua) -- The pilot of a Mi-2 agricultural helicopter was killed when the aircraft crashed in the Slavyansky district of Russia's Krasnodar region on Wednesday, the regional branch of the Ministry of Emergency Situations confirmed.

The helicopter went down while carrying out aerial crop-spraying operations. "Information has been received that a Mi-2 agricultural helicopter crashed during field treatment operations on the afternoon of June 24. 21 specialists and eight pieces of response equipment are working at the scene," the ministry said in a statement.

Investigators from the Western Interregional Transport Investigation Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia have been dispatched to the crash site, with initial investigative activities underway.
