Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Muhammad Najib Hamzah said Police are tracking down a motorcyclist who allegedly smashed a car’s windshield with a helmet following a road rage incident along Jalan Raja Ashman Shah here.
He said the incident occurred at 1.26am on Thursday (June 4) and was captured on a dashboard camera before the footage went viral on Threads and Facebook.
He said police received a report from the victim, a local man, who claimed his vehicle’s windshield was damaged by the motorcyclist.
“Initial investigations found that the incident occurred after the victim honked at a motorcycle that was being ridden erratically and had nearly entered his lane.
“As a result of the incident, the victim suffered losses estimated at RM1,500,” he said in a statement on Saturday (June 6).
ACP Muhammad Najib said a police investigation paper has been opened under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief causing damage.
He said police are working to identify and locate the suspect, believed to be in his 30s, who was riding a blue motorcycle.
“The dashcam footage obtained is being analysed to assist investigations, but the motorcycle’s registration number could not be clearly identified,” he said.
He urged anyone with information on the suspect or the incident to contact district police station hotline at 05-2451500 or the nearest police station to assist in the investigation.
