A VIDEO circulating on social media shows a car reversing into two parked vehicles before ploughing into a restaurant in Taman Daya, Johor Baru, leaving a trail of damage in its wake.
The clip has been widely shared online, with many viewers wondering how the incident unfolded so dramatically outside what appeared to be an ordinary lunchtime scene.
But did an elderly driver really ram his car through a restaurant in Johor Baru?
Verdict:

TRUE
A 69-year-old local man accidentally drove his car through a restaurant in Taman Daya, Johor Baru on Tuesday (Sept 29) afternoon after reportedly pressing the accelerator instead of the brake while reversing, as reported by Sinar Harian.
The incident occurred after the man finished breakfast at the restaurant and attempted to reverse his sedan out of the parking area.
While reversing, he is believed to have pressed the accelerator instead of the brake, causing the car to shoot backwards and strike a car parked behind him.
The collision startled him, and in his panic he pressed the accelerator again, causing the sedan to reverse further and strike a second car parked in front of the restaurant premises.
The car then continued moving and drove into the restaurant itself.
Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Azrul Hisham Mohd Shaffei said police detected the viral video of the incident at around 2.20pm.
"The cause of the accident is believed to be driver negligence in pressing the accelerator pedal, causing the car to lose control and collide with other vehicles and the restaurant premises," said ACP Azrul Hisham.
Two other cars and the restaurant sustained damage as a result of the incident.
The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which covers careless driving.
