RUNNING over a red light is no small matter, as it can make a difference between waiting for a few minutes or taking lives.
A video went viral on social media recently showing a red sedan not only beating the red light but also the zebra crossing while school children are using it.
It claimed that it took place in Bandar Baru Uda in Johor. Did it really happen as claimed?
VERDICT:

TRUE
Johor Police have confirmed that the offence indeed took place at the traffic lights of the pedestrian crossing at Jalan Padi Mahsuri in Bandar Baru Uda on Monday (April 13) at 7.25am.
Johor Baru North OCPD Asst Comm Radin Ramlan Radin Taha said police have identified the suspect as a 45-year-old male driver.
He said the owner of the car was slapped with the summonses after the video of him committing the offence went viral on Facebook.
ACP Radin Ramlan said the driver had committed the offence under Rule 17 LN 167/59 for running a red light/failure to stop at a red-light signal and Rule 46(1) LN 166/59, for failing to yield to pedestrians at a crossing/blocking a pedestrian crossing.
The video went viral earlier on Facebook on several pages, with many users criticising how someone can do such a thing, risking the lives of four young children.
