QuickCheck: Did a man throw traffic cones at a vehicle in a fit of road rage?


VIDEOS and pictures of road rage incidents often go viral on social media, especially if there are unique elements involved.

One such video making the rounds shows a man stopping his car at a toll plaza, before picking up a traffic cone and hurling it at another vehicle.

Captions and comments on the video claim that the incident happened on the Damansara-Puchong Highway (LDP).

Is it true that such an incident actually happened?

VERDICT:

TRUE

Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the police are aware of the incident and had come across the video on Facebook.

He said a police report had been lodged at 1.37am Monday.

"The footage shows a man driving a red compact car believed to have acted in such a manner while traffic was congested at the toll plaza," he said in a statement Monday.

He also urged the owner of the vehicle involved to come forward to lodge a report to assist investigations, as no report has been received so far.

Following the incident, he said police opened an investigation paper under Section 427 of the Penal Code, Section 48(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955.
