TRUE

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said police received a report about an escaped inmate from the officer of the Jalan Mersing Inmates Reintegration Centre at 4.25pm on Wednesday (Dec 3).

He said police recaptured the suspect near a chicken coop at 5.30pm, less than an hour after he escaped from custody.

"A joint operation involving the police and Kluang District Prison Department was conducted to locate the suspect," he said in a statement.

ACP Bahrin said they managed to detain the 26-year-old local male suspect at Kampung Sri Timur near here.

He said the case is being investigated under Sections 233 and 224 of the Penal Code.

ACP Bahrin urged witnesses or anyone with information on the case to contact the nearest police station or the Kluang district police headquarters at Hotline: 07-7784222/07-7766822; Direct Line: 07-7784256 or Tablet DCC: 013656822.
