A VIDEO showing a violent confrontation outside a pub-cum-bistro in Kluang went viral on Facebook, capturing a disturbing incident that occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning (Nov 16).

The footage showed multiple individuals attacking two men on Jalan Duku.

Five local men were arrested for allegedly brawling and causing injuries to two local males in front of a entertainment outlet at Jalan Duku in Kluang on Sunday (Nov 16) at 1.30am.

The video of the case went viral after it was uploaded on Facebook on Nov 16.

Kluang OCPD Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh said that police received a report on the attack at 7.26am on the same date it took place.

"The two victims, aged 22 and 26, claimed they were attacked by five unidentified men in front of the entertainment outlet," he said in a statement.

ACP Bahrin said five suspects aged between 27 and 37 were detained near Kluang, and three of them have criminal records.

"All of them tested negative for drugs," he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code.

Section 147 covers punishment for rioting, and individuals found guilty of rioting under this section are subject to a prison term, a fine or both.

The viral video footage proved instrumental in identifying those involved in the incident.

The early morning brawl has raised concerns about public safety in the entertainment district.

ACP Bahrin called upon witnesses or those with information on the case to go to the nearest police station or contact the Kluang Police District Contingent headquarters at Hotline 07-778 4222/07-776 6822 or Direct Line 07-778 4256.
