A couple were arrested for obstructing a public servant from performing their duties after speeding away and fleeing from a police inspection in an incident at BPS 4, Senawang, Seremban, early Sunday morning (Nov 9).
Seremban Deputy District Police Chief Superintendent Muhd Amrul Yazid Anuar said the incident occurred at approximately 1.10am when police officers were conducting patrols in the area and noticed a Perodua Bezza in a suspicious condition by the roadside.
"When officers approached the vehicle, the driver reversed the car and hit the police MPV before speeding away," he said in a statement on Sunday.
"Police then chased the suspect's vehicle from Jalan Senawang towards the Seremban exit near the Lekas Highway bridge, Senawang, before the car skidded and hit a wall," he added.
According to him, inspection found that a 23-year-old male driver and a 22-year-old female passenger were in the vehicle.
"Checks on past criminal records found that both suspects had no records, whilst urine screening tests were also negative," he said.
"Both of them have been detained under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant from performing their duties and further investigations are still ongoing," he added.
A video of the car chase later went viral on social media.
