Verdict:

TRUE

A dispute over payment methods led a customer to throw a package of goods at a cashier during an incident at a minimarket near Selama in Larut, Perak, on Tuesday (Oct 21).

The incident, which occurred at around 10am, went viral and gained public attention after the video, believed to be from closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, was shared on social media.

Selama OCPD Supt Sarudin Samah said preliminary investigations found that the male customer had questioned the payment method set by the minimarket.

"As a result of the misunderstanding, an argument broke out between the man and the female cashier," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Oct 22).

"Unexpectedly, the man threw his purchases in a plastic bag at the woman's head," he added.

Supt Sarudin said both parties came forward to Selama Police Station on the same day to file police reports regarding the incident.

He said the female cashier was given a PDRM (A) 59 form to be referred to Selama Hospital for a medical officer's examination.

"The examination found that the victim did not suffer any physical injuries and was allowed to return home," he said.

He said both individuals involved decided to voluntarily withdraw their respective reports after reaching a settlement.

"The case has been referred to the Investigation/Legal Division, Criminal Investigation Department, Perak Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK) and classified as No Further Action (NFA)," he explained
