A trailer transporting 950 empty cooking gas cylinders collided with a railway bridge barrier on Jalan Sultan Yahya Petra, Kuala Krai, Kelantan on Sunday (May 11).
The accident occurred at 3.21pm when the 4.3-metre-high trailer attempted to pass through a route with a height limit of 4.1 metres.
Kuala Krai OCPD Supt Mazlan Mamat told Sinar Harian that the trailer was en route from Pengkalan Chepa, Kota Bharu, to Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, heading towards the city centre when it struck the bridge's metal barrier.
As a result of the collision, several gas cylinders fell onto the road, with one rebounding towards an oncoming car.
Fortunately, the incident did not result in any injuries. The trailer driver has been fined under Regulation 10 LN 166/59 for failing to control the vehicle.
If found guilty, the driver faces a penalty of no less than RM2,000 or imprisonment for up to six months.
Supt Mazlan also urged Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad to take appropriate and immediate action regarding the barrier.
