QuickCheck: Did a gang of robbers pose as cops and break into a house in Semenyih?

Sometimes, what you see is what you get. But sometimes, not everything is as it seems. Did a gang of robbers pretending to be policemen break into a house in Semenyih and escape with various stolen goods?

VERDICT:

TRUE

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Naazron Abdul Yusof said the incident occurred at about 5.02am last Sunday (May 4).

"Two of the robbers wore face masks while the other two wore police vests when they broke into the house by breaking the front door.

"They escaped with various items, including mobile phones and RM500 cash," he said in a statement on Friday (May 9).

CCTV footage of the robbery has since gone viral on social media.

While four robbers broke into the house, another was waiting outside in the getaway car, he said.

"At that time, the houseowner, a 55-year-old man and his three family members were at home.

"We have launched a special operation to track down the suspects.

"We believe the victim suffered about RM9,000 in losses due to the stolen goods and damage to his property," he said.

ACP Naazron urged those with information on the case to contact investigating officer Insp Ghazali Zulkifli at 016-9140758 or any nearest police station.
