Residents of Rancangan Tanah Belia 2 in Sungai Panjang, Selangor, were surprised by the appearance of two sun bears wandering through their gardens on Monday (April 7).

Selangor Wildlife and National Parks Department  (Perhilitan) Director Wan Mohd Adib Wan Mohd Yusoh told Sinar Harian that the sighting was reported through a video uploaded by locals.

The video, recorded on Monday, shows the two sun bears roaming near residential areas.

"Interviews with the residents indicated that this is the first such occurrence in the area," Wan Mohd Adib noted.

Following the report, a team from Perhilitan in Sabak Bernam was dispatched to the location to conduct further monitoring.

"We will continue periodic patrols to ensure the safety of the residents and to determine whether the animals are still in the vicinity," he added.
