An early morning police chase unfolded after authorities detected a suspect believed to be involved in cable theft.

Sentul District Police Chief, ACP Ahmad Sukarno Mohd Zahari, confirmed that the incident occurred around 3.45am along Taman Rainbow Sentul towards Jalan Kuching.

Initially, the police were engaged in a car chase with the suspect, who eventually abandoned his vehicle.

"The suspect ran away, leaving his vehicle behind. Checks on the vehicle led to the discovery of tools used to steal cables," Ahmad Sukarno explained.

"Efforts to trace the suspect are underway. The car used by the suspect was found to have been registered to a car rental company as well," he added.

A video of the foot chase quickly went viral on social media.

It showed several people pursuing the suspect on foot after he had been blocked off by a patrol car.
