A local lorry driver was arrested by police for driving against the flow of traffic on Thursday (March 20).

Kajang District Police Chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said that the incident occurred at Jalan Persiaran Mahkota Residence and police had acted upon a video of the incident that had previously gone viral on Facebook.

"The driver's actions obstructed vehicles coming from Jalan Mahkota Residence 1 trying to enter Jalan Persiaran Mahkota Residence," he explained.

The 60-year-old driver was detained for reckless and dangerous driving.

"The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," ACP Naazron said.

If found guilty, the driver faces a prison sentence of up to five years and a fine not exceeding RM5,000.

"Police advise all road users to adhere to traffic laws and respect other motorists," he added.
