QuickCheck: Did a plane skid on the runway at Kuching Airport?

Flying is the safest mode of transportation, statistically speaking. However every news of an air crash can be harrowing and traumatic that even near misses go viral on social media. Recently a "report" on social media claimed that a plane skidded on the runway of the Kuching Airport and injured four people. Is this true?

VERDICT:

FALSE

According to Kuching police, the post was fake.

"At 3.12pm, we contacted the Kuching Malaysia Airport Berhad (MAB) general manager and confirmed that no such incident had occurred in at the Kuching Airport," said Kuching OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah.

He urged the public to be wary of unconfirmed rumours and reports on social media.
