FOR many young Malaysians, the big question after Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) is simple: if I choose this university, will it really lead to a bright future and a good career?
At the University of Cyberjaya (UoC), the latest official numbers offer a reassuring answer for those considering healthcare and nursing.
In the 2024 Higher Education Ministry Graduate Tracer Study, UoC recorded a 94.5% graduate employment rate and a 94.8% graduate marketability rate. These figures reflect how quickly graduates secure jobs or pursue further studies, training, or entrepreneurship after completing their programmes. They also demonstrate strong employer confidence in the quality and work-readiness of UoC graduates, particularly in health-related fields.

“These outstanding results affirm our steadfast commitment to student success,” said UoC vice-chancellor Prof Dr David Whitford.
“The rankings clearly show the strength of our industry-relevant programmes and the quality of our academic environment. We are proud to produce graduates who are more than just job-ready – they are future-ready.”

Industry-aligned healthcare programmes
While nursing remains one of the university’s most recognised pathways, UoC offers a broad range of healthcare programmes designed to support Malaysia’s evolving healthcare needs.
These include Physiotherapy, which prepares students for rehabilitation and recovery care and Dietetics, which focuses on nutrition science and preventive health. Students benefit from a curriculum that combines academic learning with practical exposure through case-based teaching and clinical placements.
The university also offers programmes in Pharmacy, Medicine (MBBS) and Biomedical Engineering Technology, reflecting the diverse expertise required across today’s healthcare ecosystem. Through these programmes, students develop the competencies needed to work collaboratively within hospitals, clinics, laboratories and community health settings.
Industry collaboration plays an important role in preparing graduates for real-world healthcare practice.
Synapse Rehab Consulting Sdn Bhd director and chartered physiotherapist Marc Jonathan Daniel shared, “Our collaboration with UoC made natural sense for us...we’ve been consistently impressed by the quality of their physiotherapy students.
“The partnership allows us to provide internships, identify promising talents and train them for potential roles across our clinics in the Klang Valley.”
Such partnerships enable students to gain valuable industry exposure, mentorship and clearer pathways into the healthcare workforce.
Clear pathway into the profession
For students interested in nursing, UoC’s partnership with Sunway Healthcare Group (SHG) offers a structured pathway into the profession.
Through the SunMed Scholarship Programme, SHG, UoC and Cyberjaya College Kota Kinabalu provide Diploma in Nursing scholarships valued at over RM100,000 per student. The package covers tuition fees, accommodation, transportation, book allowance, medical check-ups, academic bonuses and medical coverage.
Upon graduation, scholars are placed at SHG hospitals, including Sunway Medical Centre in Sunway City, recognised as Malaysia’s top hospital and ranked among the world’s top 250 hospitals in Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospitals 2025 list.
Experience healthcare training firsthand
Students and parents interested in exploring healthcare careers can experience the profession up close at the Nursing Discovery Day, held during UoC’s Grand Open Day on April 11 and 12.
Visitors can tour nursing laboratories, observe simulation training environments and speak directly with lecturers and students.
The Open Day will also showcase UoC’s wider healthcare programmes, financial aid options and career pathways.
