An elderly woman forgot to turn off her car engine and lock the gear into park, leading to a crash into a shop in the east coast Tawau district.
Despite damages to the car and the shop, no one, including the 62-year-old driver, was hurt in the 7.30am accident today (Feb 9) at the shop along Jalan Bintang off Batu 3 Jalan Apas.
Tawau district police chief Asst Comm Jasmin Hussin stated that initial police investigations found the woman had forgotten to put the car into "park" and turn off her engine, causing it to surge into the store.
"The glass door and some items inside the store were damaged," he said, noting that none of the workers in the store were injured.
ACP Jasmin added that investigations are ongoing under Section 43 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, for careless driving that caused an accident.
