Police have detained a 72-year-old man for allegedly driving against traffic along the Kajang-Seremban expressway near Nilai, Negeri Sembilan.

Nilai police chief Supt Abdul Malik Hasim stated that the suspect was detained after a three-minute clip showing a car being driven against traffic went viral on social media earlier on Friday (Jan 31).

Upon questioning, the man said he drove against traffic to get home.

Supt Abdul Malik said the case is being probed under Section 42 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving.

Offenders can be jailed for up to five years and fined between RM5,000 and RM15,000 upon conviction.

He urged eyewitnesses to contact investigating officer B. Sharveen Raj at 011 2617 6424 or the Nilai station at 06 7904 389 to assist in investigations.
