QuickCheck: Has JPJ been sending links related to driving licences via SMS?

TECHNOLOGY is probably one of the greatest inventions in making our everyday lives easier and convenient, while it is a blessing, it could also potentially have negative effects.

And the most common these days are various types of scams on the internet and social media platforms.

Recently, there have been claims that the Road Transport Department (JPJ) has been sending links through the Short Message Service (SMS) related to driving licences.

Claims of messages received are such as, “Lesen memandu anda akan digantung, lihat butiran lanjut, https://sikap....(Your licence is about to be suspended, for more information, click here, https://sikap...)

Is this true?

VERDICT:

FALSE

In a statement on its official Facebook page on Saturday (Nov 23), JPJ clarified that it has never sent any links related to driving licences via SMS or any other platform.

The public is advised to remain alert and cautious when receiving SMS messages like the one mentioned and not to click on any links provided.

Beware of scams!
