QuickCheck: Are fraudsters sending out fake invitations for 5G project meetings?

IN A world where digital communication reigns supreme, it's easy to be caught off guard by unexpected invitations.

Recently, some individuals have received invites to a meeting about the 5G tower project purportedly happening in Sabah.

But are these invitations genuine, or is there a scheme to deceive the public?

Verdict:

FALSE

The public has been reminded to be vigilant regarding invitations for a meeting on the implementation of the 5G tower project and the Jendela 2 project in Sabah, allegedly set to take place at a hotel in the capital tomorrow.

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has stated that the invitation is false and was created by irresponsible parties to deceive the public.

A police report has been lodged by the MCMC in relation to the matter.

According to the MCMC, any announcement or information on the implementation of such projects will be made through the commission's official channels.

In this regard, the commission urged the public to visit the MCMC's official website for certainty and confirmation on the events it organises. - Bernama
