QuickCheck: Is the Education Ministry's logo and name being misused online?


WHEN it comes to reliable information on education matters, the highest national authority would be the Education Ministry.

As such, any announcement, social media account or website that bears its name would be assumed by many to have an added level of legitimacy to it.

Recently, several accounts on social media have emerged with the name "Pusat Pembuatan Diploma Malaysia" and these accounts use the name and logo of the Education Ministry.

Is it true that this is a case of the Education Ministry's name and logo being misused online?

VERDICT:

TRUE

As stated in a Facebook post by the Ministry on its official page, this is a case of its logo and name being misused by unscrupulous third parties.

"We are aware of this and take the matter of fake social media accounts using the name and official logo of the Ministry. These accounts are fake. The public is advised to not be fooled by any services offered," it said in the post.
