WHEN it comes to investing – especially online – one tends to look for signs that the scheme or company has been given a stamp of approval from the authorities, and the Securities Commission carries a lot of weight when it comes to investment plans or schemes.

Have scammers started misusing the Securities Commission's logo and name to fool the public?

The Commission confirmed this in a post on its official Facebook page, saying that its name and logo have been exploited by scammers to deceive the public.

"Always check SC's Investor Alert list before making any investments. If you have doubts, reach out to SC at 03-6204 8999 or aduan@seccom.com.my," it added.
