Following the recently-concluded Australian federal election earlier in May, it has been said that the MP for the Tangney constituency near Perth is a Malaysian-born former dolphin trainer and policeman. Is this true?
VERDICT:

TRUE
The recently-elected Sam Lim is in fact Johor-born and has spoken of his stint as a dolphin trainer and policeman while running for the seat under a Labour ticket.
Lim migrated to Australia in 2002 with his family.
He beat Ben Morton, who was an adviser to outgoing Australian prime minister Scott Morrison, Australian news sites reported.
Lim was a former dolphin trainer and policeman who was awarded Officer of the Year at the Nine News Police Excellence Awards in December 2020 for his role in pandemic outreach.
He also served for two years as an officer with the Royal Malaysia Police.
According to Australia's ABC News, Lim said he grew up in a "very poor family."
"There was no power or water," he said.
"So we had to struggle, the first 15 years of my life, but those 15 years built me up to today," he said.
Lim cited that his time working as a dolphin trainer in Malaysia was the "best job ever".
"I love it because dolphins are so genuine, dolphins never hurt you. If you feel hurt, you jump into the swimming pool.
"The dolphin will come to you and try to comfort you," he was quoted as saying.
