QuickCheck: Do you need to go to EPF's office to apply for the special withdrawal?

FROM early Friday (April 1) morning, people around the country have been queuing up at Employees Provident Fund (EPF) offices to put in their application for the Special Withdrawal facilities.

Do you have to go to their offices to apply?

Verdict:

FALSE

You do not need to go to EPF's offices to apply, nor do you need to visit an EPF kiosk or even open up EPF's i-Akaun app.

EPF released a friendly reminder on their social media accounts advising contributors to visit https://pengeluarankhas.kwsp.gov.my to apply.

The page was purpose-built by the fund to handle the expected traffic from contributors eager to apply and is still up and running when last checked.

However, this has not stopped many to visit EPF's offices en masse with long queues reported in Kuala Lumpur, Shah Alam and Kuching.

Also, some i-Akaun users have reported problems accessing their accounts.
