Cambodian FM: WHO's efforts, role in fighting Covid-19 praiseworthy

PHNOM PENH: Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn (pic) said on Saturday (April 26) that the World Health Organisation (WHO)'s efforts and role in advancing global battle against the COVID-19 pandemic are praiseworthy.

"We should praise the efforts and the leading role of the WHO as a respectable world health entity in providing information, training, recommendations and guidance for the greater cause of mankind," he had also said during the special Asean-U.S. Foreign Ministers' meeting on Covid-19 via video conference on Thursday.

According to a Cambodian foreign ministry's statement released after the meeting, Sokhonn, who is also the deputy prime minister, said Cambodia has tried to minimise the negative impacts of this pandemic on its economy as well as to prepare for the recovery phase by keeping factories running and thus preventing workers from losing their jobs.

Cambodia has so far recorded a total of 122 confirmed cases of Covid-19, with 110 patients cured, according to a Ministry of Health statement on late Friday.
