PHNOM PENH (Xinhua): Cambodia's Ministry of Health (MoH) late on Monday (March 23) confirmed 87 total cases of Covid-19, increasing from 86 cases earlier in the day.

The new patient is a 28-year-old French woman, whose 35-year-old French husband and four-month-old son were tested positive for the virus on March 15 and 16, respectively, the statement said.

The French family travelled from Paris to Phnom Penh on March 14, with a transit flight in Singapore.

Currently, the woman and her infant have been placed under treatment at the Kantha Bopha Children's Hospital in Phnom Penh, as her husband has been receiving treatment at the Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital.

According to the statement, Cambodia has recorded a total of 87 confirmed cases of the Covid-19 to date. Among them are a Chinese national, a Canadian man, a Belgian man, three British nationals, 12 Malaysians, 34 French nationals, and 35 Cambodians.

Two of the patients -- a Chinese man and a British woman -- have fully recovered and have been discharged from hospital, it said.

On Monday morning, a seven-member team of Chinese medical experts from south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region arrived in Phnom Penh to help the kingdom fight against the virus.

Landing at the Phnom Penh International Airport via a special chartered plane, the medical team also came over with tonnes of medical supplies including ventilators, medical masks, protective suits, test kits, and infrared temperature sensors, among others. - Xinhua
