Big gatherings cancelled across Taiwan due to coronavirus scare

TAIPEI, Feb 27 (The China Post/ANN) — New Taipei, Taipei, Tainan and other cities on Wednesday announced the cancellation or suspension of large scale school and sporting events in their cities, in a bid to control the rising number of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Taiwan.

At a municipal meeting, New Taipei Mayor Hou You-yi (侯友宜) issued a directive for all schools in the city to cancel their scheduled graduation trips to prevent cluster infections of COVID-19.
