TOKYO (The Straits Times/ANN): A Wakayama surgeon may have infected a patient with the coronavirus, officials said on Friday (Feb 14), in what would be Japan's first case of doctor-to-patient transmission.

The patient, a farmer in his 70s, is Japan's 34th confirmed case of Covid-19. He developed a cough on Feb 1 and fever on Feb 5. Prefectural officials said he is in serious condition.
