PETALING JAYA: The mother of MCA deputy president and Perak MCA chairman Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon has passed away at the age of 82.
Lee Kee Hiong died on Oct 31, with family members by her side.
She is survived by six children, including Dr Mah, as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In a tribute posted on Facebook, Dr Mah remembered his mother for the sacrifices she made in raising him and his five siblings, saying that her care and teachings had shaped their lives.
Reflecting on her passing, Dr Mah said that despite his experience as a doctor, he found himself helpless when confronted with the loss of his own mother.
"As a doctor, I have witnessed the ups and downs of life and understood the limitations of medicine.
"Yet, when the elderly person was my own mother, all my medical knowledge and clinical experience seemed so inadequate," he said.
He also thanked her for raising the six siblings and making their happiness possible.
According to a statement issued by Perak MCA, her wake is being held at Chee Seng Garden in Tanjung Bungah, Penang.
The funeral service will be held at 8.30am on Nov 3. The cortege will leave at 9am, with her remains to be taken to the Segari Five Villages Chinese Cemetery in Perak for burial.
