PETALING JAYA: Tony Lim, the entrepreneur behind popular local food and beverage (F&B) chains BananaBro and Boat Noodle, has passed away.
His passing was announced through condolence messages posted by both brands on social media on Monday (Nov 2).
In a statement, BananaBro honoured Lim for his vision of taking Malaysian banana leaf dining global and his dedication to his staff and partners, reported Sinar Harian.
"Even though he is no longer with us, his dream will live on in every banana leaf meal we serve and through every contribution he made," the statement read. "Thank you, Tony. Your passion inspired us, your generosity touched us, and the legacy you left behind will endure forever."
Lim made his mark on Malaysia’s F&B landscape in 2014 by founding Boat Noodle, a Thai street-food concept that introduced small-bowl dining.
Following that success, Lim launched BananaBro in 2018, bringing a modern approach to traditional banana leaf rice. The chain expanded to over 30 outlets nationwide and recorded an estimated RM70mil in revenue by 2023.
