KLIA passengers told to expect traffic congestion during MotoGP

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airlines has advised passengers using Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) between Friday (Oct 30) and Sunday to expect higher traffic congestion during the Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix (MotoGP).

In a Facebook post, the airline said passengers should plan for more travel time due to heavy traffic and delays affecting the roads and highways leading to KLIA during the event at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC).

Malaysia Airlines said airport access remains fully open, but passengers are encouraged to monitor real-time traffic updates from the police, plan alternative routes where necessary and consider using the KLIA Ekspres train service.

"Passengers are advised to arrive at KLIA at least three hours before their scheduled international flight departures and two hours before domestic departures.

"We would also like to remind passengers that check-in counters for both domestic and international flights would close 60 minutes before the scheduled departure time," it said.

Malaysia Airlines thanked passengers for their understanding and cooperation during this peak travel period.

The 2026 Malaysian MotoGP runs from Friday until Sunday, with SIC targeting 200,000 spectators over the three-day event. - Bernama
