Content creator, others to be quizzed by cops over podcast video

PETALING JAYA: Content creator Azrul Affandi Sobry is scheduled to appear at the Sentul police headquarters on Wednesday (Oct 21) over an investigation into a podcast video.

Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Anuar Bakri Abdul Salam said a report was lodged by the chairman of a temple in Kuala Lumpur.

He said the complainant received a link to the podcast video from a friend at about 3.30pm on Sunday (Oct 18) and subsequently lodged a police report.

"After obtaining the OTI (order to investigate) from the deputy public prosecutor, police have called several witnesses, including Azrul Affandi, to record their statements at the Sentul police headquarters," he said on Tuesday (Oct 20).

The case is being investigated under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

Reports quoting police on allegations of drug activities near the Sentul police headquarters, raised in a podcast, referred to an incident on July 12, 2016.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus said the podcast was a guest retelling his experience when he was in journalism 10 years ago.
