AN 11-year-old boy in Tamil Nadu, India, was killed while recreating a science experiment seen on a social media platform, Malaysia Nanban reported.

The pupil, identified only as Kavin, had a keen interest in science and often watched amateur science channels on YouTube.

A few days ago when he was at home, he attempted to recreate an experiment involving fire which he saw on the website.

He was using a flammable paint thinner which accidentally splashed onto his clothes and caused the fire to engulf him.

The father, who heard the boy’s screams, came running and tried to put out the fire.

Kavin sustained burns over 80% of his body while his father injured his hands.

The boy was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.

He was later transferred to a larger hospital for intensive care but he died from his injuries.

The father was hospitalised as well.
