KUALA LUMPUR: Police will record statements from the 10 Negri Sembilan exco members starting today, as part of investigations into an issue involving customary laws and the state constitution, says Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail.
The Inspector-General of Police said the statements would be recorded in Negri Sembilan.
“This is to assist investigations based on police reports that have been lodged over the matter,” he said when contacted.
One of the reports lodged was by Parti Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia (Putra), which called for an investigation into Mentri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim and his state executive council line-up.
The 10 exco members are Datuk Mohd Faizal Ramli, Datuk Zaifulbahri Idris, Datuk Mustapha Nagoor, Siow Kong Choon, Siti Nur Umaira Hasim, Datuk Mohd Asna Amin, Datuk Mohd Razi Mohd Ali, Suhaimizan Bizar, Mohd Fairuz Mohd Isa and Datuk Razali Abu Samah.
Mohd Khalid said the police would also look into information obtained from the statements as part of the ongoing investigation.
Meanwhile, at an event in Penang, Mohd Khalid said that others involved in this matter would also be called up for their statements to be recorded.
He said police would complete their investigation papers before submitting them to the Attorney General’s Chambers for further action.
“We have yet to look at the matter comprehensively.
“Some cases may involve the Sedition Act, while others may involve other offences.
“It requires careful examination by all parties, particularly the Attorney General’s Chambers,” he told reporters before launching the “Project Whitening The Black Spot” programme.
Mohd Khalid said police had already recorded statements from one or two individuals who could be witnesses to the case.
He also said security in Negri Sembilan remained under control amid the constitutional stand-off.
“Everything is good and under control. We will maintain safety for the people of Negri Sembilan.”
