BANDAR PERMAISURI: An eight-year-old girl died after the motorcycle ridden by her grandmother was hit by a car at KM50 of Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kota Baru near her school here on Sunday (Sept 27) morning.
The victim, Putri Jannatul Arisha Abdullah, a Standard Two pupil at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Batu 29 here, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Setiu OCPD Supt Zahril Asri Mohd Zain said the incident occurred at about 6.40am when the victim was riding pillion on a motorcycle ridden by her 50-year-old grandmother from Simpang Langkap to the school.
"Upon reaching the main road, the motorcycle turned right to enter the school junction before it was hit by a sedan driven by a 54-year-old man travelling from Kuala Terengganu towards Kota Baru," he said in a statement.
The victim's body was taken to Setiu Hospital while her seriously injured grandmother was sent to the same hospital for treatment. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. - Bernama
