KOTA KINABALU: A civil servant and a former chief executive officer (CEO) are expected to be charged on Monday (Sept 28) for graft-related offences at the Special Corruptions Court here.
This comes after both suspects were detained for allegedly asking and receiving RM18,000 to assist in a company’s gold mining operations in a district in Sabah.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said that both suspects in their 60s were arrested at around 10am on Wednesday (Sept 23) after giving their statements at the MACC office here.
Both men were believed to have committed the offence between 2024 and 2025, and were said to have received the money in cash.
Meanwhile, Sabah MACC director Datuk Mohd Fuad Bee Basrah, when confirming the arrests, said the case is being investigated under Section 17 (a) and Section 17 (b) of the MACC Act 2009 for soliciting or receiving gratification and for offering or giving gratification.
