PETALING JAYA: The air quality monitoring station at IPD Serian recorded an unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) reading of 200 as of 4pm Thursday.
According to data from the Environment Department's Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, eight other locations in Sarawak recorded unhealthy readings including Kuching (188), Samarahan (179), Sri Aman (172) and Bintulu (162).
The other affected areas are Sarikei (157), Sibu (156), Samalaju (155) and Kapit (13).
According to the APIMS portal, 48 monitoring stations throughout the country recorded moderate API readings, while 11 stations reported good air quality levels.
API readings of between zero and 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, while readings above 300 are categorised as hazardous.
API data is released hourly based on readings from 68 air quality monitoring stations nationwide.
