KUALA LUMPUR: There will be closures and traffic diversions on 34 roads here in stages on Sunday (Sept 27) to make way for the 2026 Coway Run based at Merdeka Stadium.
Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department deputy chief Supt Suffian Abdullah said the closures and diversions would start from 3.30am and the roads would be reopened in stages after the conclusion of the event, which is expected to attract about 10,000 participants.
"The roads involved are Jalan Stadium, Jalan Maharajalela, Jalan Dewan Bahasa, Jalan Bukit Petaling, Jalan Bellamy, Jalan Hang Tuah, Jalan Hang Jebat, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Raja Chulan, Jalan Conlay and Jalan Kia Peng.
"Also involved are Jalan Perak, Jalan P. Ramlee, Jalan Ampang, Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Putra, Jalan Tun Ismail, Jalan Tunku, Jalan Langgak Tunku, Jalan Pinggiran Tunku, Jalan Girdle, Jalan Bukit Tunku and Jalan Sultan Salahuddin," he said in a statement on Thursday.
He said that other roads that would also be closed were Lebuhraya Sultan Iskandar, Jalan Persiaran Sultan Salahuddin, Jalan Parlimen, Jalan Dato Onn, Bulatan Dato Onn, Jalan Kinabalu, Jalan Tun Perak, Jalan Pudu, Jalan Sultan, Jalan Petaling and Bulatan Merdeka.
Suffian said the Coway Run comprised three main categories: the 30km run starting at 4am; the 10km run starting at 5.15am; and the 5km Fun Run at 7am.
As such, he advised the public to avoid using the affected roads throughout the event, plan their journeys in advance and use alternative routes, as well as opt for public transport to reduce traffic congestion.
"Comply with instructions from police and traffic personnel on duty at the locations to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow, as well as to practise responsible driving and remain patient throughout the road closures," he added.
