KAJANG: Former Tabung Haji (TH) chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim and his immediate family have been served a formal notice to declare their assets as part of ongoing graft investigations, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said.
MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman confirmed at a press conference on Saturday (Sept 19) that the notices followed Abdul Azeez’s court charges on Sept 9.
“We have served a notice to him and his family members requiring them to declare their assets as stipulated under the law. Normally, a one-month window is granted, but an extension can be considered if necessary based on the circumstances,” Abd Halim said at the Maktab Jabatan Penjara.
He added that MACC investigators are currently gathering evidence across five active probes linked to the pilgrimage fund.
Among these active files is an investigation into the high bonus payouts highlighted in the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Lembaga Tabung Haji.
Published on July 29, the RCI report uncovered significant management and governance lapses within the institution between 2014 and 2020, later becoming the subject of a special Dewan Rakyat debate on Aug 11.
