Three motorcyclists killed in multi-vehicle crash along Ipoh North–Ipoh South Local Express Lane


IPOH: Three youths were killed during an accident that involved 12 motorcycles and three cars along the Ipoh North–Ipoh South Local Express Lane between Meru and Bercham here.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Muhammad Najib Hamzah said two of the deceased, aged 19 and 20, died on the spot, while another 19-year-old died while being treated at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital on Saturday (Sept 19).

ACP Muhammad Najib said in the incident that occurred at about 3.35am, nine other motorcyclists, aged between 19 and 35, suffered various injuries.

"Initial investigation found that all vehicles were headed towards Tambun prior to the incident.

"We are trying to determine the cause and timeline of the accident and urged those with information to come forward to assist investigations," he said in a statement.

"The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act," he said, adding that the three drivers of the car were unharmed.
