PETALING JAYA: Six foreign men have been charged in absentia at the Sessions Court Kuala Lumpur over a gang robbery involving a 28-year-old Chinese national at his residential unit at Pavilion Embassy, Jalan Ampang.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus said the investigation papers were completed and referred to the Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory Prosecution Office on Sept 17.
“Following this, the Federal Territory Prosecution Director has ordered that all identified suspects be charged in court under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code for gang robbery with weapons,” he said in a statement on Saturday (Sept 19).
Comm Fadil said the six foreign men were charged without being present at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court on Friday (Sept 18).
“During the proceedings before the Sessions Court judge, the Deputy Public Prosecutor applied for arrest warrants against all six accused.
“The court fixed Oct 16 for mention of the application for the arrest warrants,” he said.
Comm Fadil said police would subsequently proceed with an application for Red Notices through Interpol to trace and apprehend all the suspects.
Police also urged anyone with information on the whereabouts or movements of the suspects to contact the nearest police station to assist investigations.
The case was reported at 5.31pm on Sept 7 by the 28-year-old Chinese national and is being investigated under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code.
