HONG Kong actors Edison Chen and Anthony Wong are reuniting on screen after 12 years for the Lunar New Year movie Temple of Wishes, Sin Chew Daily reported.
Their last movie together was in 2014, when both made brief appearances in Golden Chickensss.
At the production launch ceremony in Penang on Thursday, Chen said: “I have been waiting for this for a long time. Thank you to the director and everyone involved in this film. I’ll do my best.”
The movie, with an estimated production budget of RM10mil, is directed by Malaysian filmmaker Goh Pei Chiek.
It is scheduled for release on Feb 6, the first day of the Lunar New Year next year.
At the ceremony, Wong told fans that he liked Penang because it was beautiful.
He said filming had gone smoothly so far and hoped it would continue that way.
Joking about his time in Penang, Wong added that he had eaten so much over the past few days that he had gained weight.
The movie follows two ordinary men, Ah Tian and Ah Le, who struggle on the fringes of society.
By chance, they end up running a temple called the Temple of Wishes, attracting worshippers by claiming that their wishes can come true.
In addition to Penang and Kuala Lumpur, the movie will also be filmed in China and Italy. Filming began on Sept 7, with principal photography expected to wrap up by the end of this month.
> China Press reported that a man in Dalian, Liaoning province, China, developed hallucinations after eating Lanmaoa asiatica mushroom.
He mistook his pet dog for his former girlfriend, hugging and kissing it for six or seven hours before concerned colleagues realised something was wrong and rushed him to hospital.
The man thought the mushrooms he had bought were safe to eat if thoroughly cooked.
His symptoms were mild, and he quickly recovered after receiving basic treatment.
