GEORGE TOWN: A resident of Kampung Baruh in Bayan Lepas here went for a typical quiet night-time stroll in his house compound, only to get a shock when he came across a 5m (over 16ft) python coiled up there.
South-West Civil Defence Force (APM) operations officer Lt Adi Hamizi Ayub said a distress call came in at 9.35pm on Monday (Sept 14).
"Four APM personnel including an officer were dispatched to the location to capture the reptile," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Sept 15).
Adi said for the safety of both themselves and the animal, APM personnel took precautionary measures and used specialised equipment to safely capture and restrain the python.
He said they took 12 minutes to capture the snake, which was brought to APM district headquarters to be handed over to the Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan).
